The history of homeopathy

Hippocrates, talked about the principles of homeopathy in the 5th century BC. He established the idea that sickness was the result of internal imbalance of the "life force" (or "vital force"). Homeopathy in its current form has been in use for 200 years and was started in the late 18th Century by Samuel Hahnemann. Hahneman challenged the medical wisdom at the time by developing a more natural and gentle system of healing for his patients, a safe alternative to the invasive, toxic and dangerous methods used by others. He also discovered the "law of similars" or "like heals like", that is, a substance that can cause a disease can also relieve it. Putting this law into practice in homeopathy means for example, if someone suffers from insomnia it can be treated with a remedy made from coffee, Coffea. This gives homeopathy its name; 'homeo' meaning similar.
